Lafayette Piano Academy is the fruition of many years of experience and a dream to create a piano studio that provides the best piano education for students of all ages. We love working with beginners, recreational pianists, students who would like to pursue music as a career, and everything in between! LPA is easily accessible to those in the Lafayette area, as well as Louisville, Superior, Erie, Broomfield, and Boulder.
Dr. Emily Book McGree, Founder and Director
Originally from Ohio, Emily moved to Colorado in pursue her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she graduated in 2010. She also holds an MM from Louisiana State University and a BM from Ohio Wesleyan University. Emily has over 15 years of experience teaching private and group pre-collegiate and adult students, and enjoys working with all interest levels. She is a frequent presenter at national and state music teacher conferences, and serves as a teacher trainer and mentor to new Recreational Music Making (RMM) teachers awarded the National Piano Foundation RMM Teaching Fellowship. Emily is currently on faculty at the Lamont School of Music, in Denver CO, where she runs the Piano Pedagogy and Piano Preparatory programs. She has also served on the faculty of University of Northern Colorado and the University of Colorado at Boulder.
After 11 years working at a community music school where she was Education Director and Piano Faculty, Emily decided to pursue a dream and open her own piano academy based in Lafayette, Colorado. As a piano-centered studio, LPA strives to offer the newest and best pedagogical strategies to students of all levels.
